Welcome
During the last decades, the field of e-learning is continually expanding. The demand for e-learning facilitation is growing accordingly to the rising number of participants in e-learning modules in Europe. Additionally, the recent COVID-19 lockdown with its tremendous consequences in most of humans’ personal and professional lives, has affected the way of thinking and acting and has highlighted the merits of distance education, by strengthening the need for further dynamic instructional designing models and new skills acquisition. The aim of e-learning facilitation as well as the tasks of an e-learning facilitator are not clearly defined.
Competence for E-learning Facilitators
Scope: The course aims to provide the technical and pedagogical knowledge, skills, and competences necessary for effective support & facilitation of learning processes of student groups in virtual environments in order to support the professionalism development and capacity building of virtual learning facilitators.
Course type: Self-paced asynchronous, open access
Learning outcomes: At the end of the training, learners will be able to:
- Demonstrate & apply intermediate level knowledge about terms and principles of virtual learning & teaching, define the roles & responsibilities of single key players in virtual learning with the special focus on the role of virtual learning facilitator & skills required.
- Manage & properly use the ICT tools needed for virtual learning facilitation: manage communication networks among learners & digital resources properly, manage and orchestrate the use of digital technologies for teaching and learning in virtual environment.
- Create and facilitate a digital learning experience that engages learners environmentally, intellectually, and emotionally and facilitate the acquisition of knowledge and competences by establishing a favorable learning environment through the skillful application of appropriate facilitation tools & techniques to the occurred situations and for the profit of students in order to support, guide, orientate, encourage & help students (and tutors).

Target group:
- Teachers and trainers of adults from various contexts (non-formal adult education, vocational training, higher continuing education etc.) who would like to become active as virtual learning-facilitators and/or acquire knowledge & skills for virtual learning facilitation
- Introductory – Beginner (Newcomer (A1) & Explorer (A2) & Integrator (B1) according to DigCompEdu)
Prerequisites:
- Basic ICT knowledge, familiarity with ICT equipment/learning platforms
- Technical equipment (internet access and computer)
Duration & workload:
- 3 Modules – max 6 hours per module
- Total duration: max 6 weeks including final assignment
- After successful finish of all 3 modules the certificate of attendance to be awarded
- Final assignment/exam: yes (QUIZ)
