Good practice 1: The Green Week

The Green Week

Sant Josep School, Navàs (Bages, Catalonia)

The eTwinning European Green Week is an ongoing project in a network with other countries and is part of the actions of the European Week for the Waste Reduction (EWWR). It is carried out by schools from different countries: France, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Romania, Turkey, Tunisia and India. The action consisted in working on a topic related to sustainability every day of the week from November 22 to 26 (European Week for the Waste Reduction).

The action plan has been:

-        MONDAY: WE ARE GREEN. Wear second-hand or reused clothing and accessories. Interactive city map with green areas. Collaborative activity with Thinglink.

-        TUESDAY: WE ARE WATER. "One single drop counts!". We make a decalogue on a Padlet about what to do to save water. Forum on "Why can we use circular water?".

-        WEDNESDAY: WE ARE ZERO FOOD WASTE. Activity of healthy recipes for food utilization, we edited videos, twinboards.

-        THURSDAY: WE ARE NOT PLASTIC. Activity consisting of expert conferences. Josep Roma, biologist and oceanographer, tells us about plastics in the oceans, in an online conference in English from the CRAM (Marine Animal Recovery Center) about turtles in the Mediterranean Sea and all the dangers due to pollution. Also experiment to make bioplastic with milk. Art pieces made from used plastic bags (pending to create a 3D Museum).

-        FRIDAY: WE ARE LIFE. Activity of making "seed bombs" with flower seeds that will explode in the spring, and planting trees. We planted two ash trees in the school yard.

Duration: One week.
