  • Introduction

    The project  „digiskill-retail“ is aimed at the increasing of digital competences and skills of trainees and employees (digicomp) in the retail sector by using modern retail-specific e-learning units. These units should prepare them to cope with the challenges of the digital transformation processes of the retail sector. The project also supports and expands the digital competences (digicompEDU)  of teachers and trainers by using the e-learning units for  vocational education in retail trade.

  • Module 1-Information and data literacy-BCS



    The “Information and Data Literacy” skill for retail professionals includes basic truths of internet behaviour, including the ability to effectively search the internet, judging the information found critically, and taking steps to defend yourself against becoming the victim of malicious attacks. It also involves creating and gathering feedback from customers.


    Course goals

    The overall goals of the units within this competence are  the following:

    • Students are able to perform keyword searches effectively and understand how to judge and recognize whether a website is credible. Students are able to locate reliable sources of information and are able to distinguish false information from the real.
    • The students have a basic understanding of the steps that can be taken in order to secure their online behaviour. Their capabilities include the ability to recognize phishing emails, to avoid malicious links, and to handle suspicious attachments.
    • Students are able to create an online feedback form, analyse the data and create a summary of the results.
    • Students are able to recognize the essential elements of product labels and to identify different eco-friendly labelling.


    Target groups

    • Employees in retail trade, VET teachers/trainers and VET students.
    • Key learning outcomes:
    • Using keywords effectively to search.
    • Assessing the trustworthiness of a website through the use of trust indicators.
    • Assessing the trustworthiness of information through the use of trust indicators.
    • Recognizing phishing E-mails, malicious links and suspicious attachments.
    • Creating Strong Passwords.
    • Creating and analysing customers feedback.
    • Recognizing essential elements of product labels.
    • Identifying the most common eco-friendly symbols.

  • Module 3-Collaboration



    Collaboration is one of the most important aspects of the retail business and brand recognition in general. The basic interactions for the employees is with the direct customers and clients for building trust, loyalty and satisfaction. It is highly important to establish, maintain, improve and develop these relationships. Retail professionals need to know and be equipped with the right competences for       customer service via digital communication channels, general computer use, MS Office programmes (starting from the most basic use up to specific programmes, such as Excel Vlookup and Pivot). 

    Unit goals

    The overall goals of the units within this competence are to equip retail professionals with the following:

    • Understanding that for the co-creation of digital content with other people, good social skills (e.g. clear communication, ability to clarify misunderstandings) are important to compensate for the limitations of online communication .
    • Awareness of the advantages of using digital tools and technologies for remote collaborative processes (e.g. reduced commuting time, join specialised skills together regardless of location).
    • Proficiency in creating engaging collaboration with their target audience both in the company and outside with external partners and stakeholders.
    • Skills to facilitate and improve collaborative processes, for example through shared visual boards and digital canvases (e.g. Mural, Miro, Padlet).
    • Improvement of knowledge how to use digital tools and technologies in a remote working context for idea generation and co-creation of digital content (e.g. shared mind maps and whiteboards, polling tools).

    Key learning outcomes 

    • Enhanced ability to choose and propose different digital tools and technologies for collaborative processes within and outside of the retail company: retail professionals will gain improved understanding how to choose and apply the correct digital tools and technologies for collaboration with internal members of the team and company and with external ones like vendors, stakeholders and partners.
    • Improved customer service skills for collaboration and exchange of information for better service and maintain stronger and more successful relationships with customers. 
    • Increased skills for in trustworthy ways to achieve group goals when engaging in co-construction of resources or knowledge. It also helps and builds ability to use appropriate digital tools for fostering collaboration between the members of a team while, at the same time, ensuring digital accessibility.

    The "Digital Content Creation" digital competence for retail professionals involves acquiring the skills and knowledge needed to effectively create, manage, and optimize digital content for online platforms. This competence encompasses understanding the principles of content creation, mastering various digital tools, and staying up-to-date with evolving trends in content marketing. Retail professionals need to develop the ability to engage with customers, convey brand messages, and drive sales through visually appealing and relevant digital content.


    Course goals
    The overall goals of the units within this competence are to equip retail professionals with the following:


    • Proficiency in creating engaging content tailored to their target audience's preferences and behaviors.

    • Skills in using social media management tools for effective content distribution and maximizing online visibility.

    • Understanding of copyright and licensing regulations to ensure legal and ethical content creation.

    • The ability to establish a strong visual brand identity through design and branding elements.

    • Competence in video design and YouTube content creation to tap into the power of video marketing.
